I needed to draw this bastard
For reasons
Not that I extremely enjoy his face. And him.
Curse this jerk. Curse him to oblivion.
For my dearie, Gwen, who doesn’t have enough time to make it for this awesome week. So I drew the bastard for her. N-not that I love him so much, b-baka!

And you, dearie, are such a wonderful person. *.*
All these compliments don’t help his ego, you know that. Not that anybody cares, I guess… everybody loves him as the cold jerk he is (wat). So yay. *.*
Thanks so so so much for this! *hugs eternals*

And Elrion would be like “… I don’t know how I put up with you sometimes, but let’s do this. Maybe we can get some benefits out of this crazyness” and Hylian would be like YAY!

30 Day Role Play Challenge - Day 12 (Elrion Surana)

12.) How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email? AND/OR, DEPENDING ON SETTING: How is your character with magic or the supernatural?

Answering the bolded question because of the setting. Elrion is a mage, and a very powerful one, so he is really talented, specially efficient on the Spirit magic school and on ice-based spells, in which he is a natural (those were the first signs of magic that was found on him). He is good as a healer too (a bit on the heritage’s side, as his father was a healer too), but he is more talented at exploring his (and others) mana’s potential. That’s why he is interested on blood magic as well, although he is approaching it on a very different level compared to others, and he doesn’t consider himself a blood mage as he doesn’t wield it. He knows the risks of being a mage, but he knows how to handle them. Or so he thinks. He is not less vulnerable to possession than any other mage in his place; one would think he is an easy prey for a Pride Demon, the most powerful of the hierarchy, and that is the fear of many of the templars and tutors seeing his arrogance and vanity. But he is not a fool; he is very careful and knows how to be careful with any dealings he must do with spirit entities, if he must do any. Maybe that is exactly why he can’t afford to be low-guarded most of the times. Because he knows any wrong step he takes will lead him to his downfall and becoming an abomination just like Uldred.

30 Day Role Play Challenge - Day 11 (Elrion Surana)

11.) Is there an animal you equate with your character?

I haven’t actually think of one. If anything, it needs to equate his personality as a character; clever, charming, devious and VERY cold-blooded. Foxes and snakes are the firsts that come to my mind. But I can’t fully equate him to neither of them, or to any species in particular.

30 Day Role Play Challenge - Day 10 (Elrion Surana)

10.) Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable.

There are some, actually, and they all have to do about his life as a mage. At the age of 10, he would be sent to the fereldan Circle of Magi, and his life wouldn’t be the same again. Then, after his Harrowing at age 24, there would be another one, just before the battle of Ostagar happened. He experimented betrayal and loss of old friends, although one of them would be temporary, and that would be the link he needed to go further on his studies thanks to the Urn of Sacred Ashes’ discovery, in which he took an important part. And, eight years later, between the events of Dragon Age II’s act III and the Asunder ones, being a quite respected enchanter of the Lucrosian fraternity (with some affiliations to the Libertarians), he would abandon the Circle in Ferelden to continue his investigation about dragon blood and ancient sources of magic in Tevinter.

30 Day Role Play Challenge - Day 9 (Elrion Surana)

9.) Who does your character trust?

There are very few people in which Elrion really trust. Sometimes, he finds hard to even trust himself. As a mage, he never really felt truly safe anywhere, and he saw the Circle tower and its affairs a little like a Royal court, with its intrigues and its deceptions. So he had to choose his friendships carefully, even more after what happened with Jowan. He despise traitors with all his heart, and hold serious grudges on people who had wronged him somehow. He is really reserved and whatever troubled him, he kept it to himself most of the time, sometimes without telling anybody until some time had passed or he can’t bear the burden of his worries alone. But the few friends he has, he cares about them more than he wants to admit, and trust them a great deal in fact, which is more than anyone can ever said about someone with such a wicked mind and secretive attitude as him. Between the people he can trust, there is the Warden, ser Alanna, the templar who carefully took care of him when he was a newcomer to the Circle, and a pair of twins from Orlais who consider the most close people to him.

30 Day Role Play Challenge - Day 8 (Elrion Surana)

8.) Day of Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower?

If ice cream existed in Thedas (which I highly doubt), I’m completely sure he hasn’t tried it.  So I’m going to ignore that favorite.

Elrion’s favorite color is purple, amongst others. Being as vain as he is, he says it looks good on him (and he is right, damn him). He loves to dress in cold colors, blue and purple mostly, that is why he wears a version of his apprentice robes post-Harrowing, with some changes so people can tell apart. Sometimes (very few times) he uses black and white, too, and light grey.

He doesn’t really have a favorite song, or story for that matter. He has heard some when he was a child, in the Highever alienage, about heroes and monsters, but he has forgotten them all. And, as he grew up in the Circle, he was more interested in facts than in stories and myths. He never paid attention to stories about his own people. Just because he is of the same race than the tribes of elves who call themselves Dalish doesn’t mean he feels akin to them or to their cause. Living in a place like the Circle where nobody really pays attention to your gender or to your race, where, to most of the templars, everybody were just mages, made him think these matters are unimportant. The thing he loves most to read about is about the Tevinter imperium and their glory days, just before the appearance of darkspawn. In fact he is investigating about the uses of dragon blood and how it affected to magisters in Tevinter to become the civilization they once were, as he thinks it is closely related to the cult to the Old Gods.

Also, he isn’t really interested in plants or flowers, other than their properties for potions and poultices, and Herbology is not really his field. But if he have to choose one flower it would be the deadly nightshade one, but not because he appreciates the flower itself (even if he thinks it’s beautiful, as so many other flowers), but because of the plant and its medical uses.

30 Day Role Play Challenge - Day 7 (Elrion Surana)

7.) Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?

Which event wouldn’t he want to erase from his past I wonder? There has been too many. Elrion likes to have things under control, but he can’t always do that. And when he makes mistakes, there is a disaster. The most notorious events in his past which he hated would have been the Jowan incident and when Uldred and his abominations took control of Kinloch Hold. As well as the Warden, he has been involved in those for different reasons (mainly, what happened with Jowan was in part his fault, and considers his friendship with him the worst mistake of his life). Also, after Uldred and the abominations were killed, he was suspicious of being a blood mage who worked with Uldred because of his questionable points of view about blood magic, when the truth is he never really used it nor had associations with Uldred of any kind, and he was, in fact, used as a thrall, only realizing it when it was too late. This late event wasn’t so bad for him in the end. To recover his reputation and prove his loyalty to the Circle, he was one of the mages who was sent to look after arl Eamon in Redcliffe and his family. And there was when he heard about the Urn of Sacred Ashes. And that event in particular, he doesn’t regret at all. Maybe he only wished the circumstances in which he heard about that relic were different. So what happened with Jowan would be the one thing he wants to erase from his life, because not only his life, but the lives of others, including the Warden’s, were ruined then.

30 Day Role Play Challenge - Day 6 (Elrion Surana)

6.) Describe your character’s happiest memory.

Truly, if sober, he will never admit he was happy in his life for real; if anything, he will say he is content with the few pleasures he is allowed to have, sometimes even “satisfied” and that’s all, but as a mage he will never feel true happiness because that’s an illusion produced by demons to make one succumb to them. To an extent, that is true. He didn’t have a particularly bright life, even as a child; he has achieved a lot of things when he was in the Circle, but he never filled his definition of “happiness” because he restrict himself a lot in the first place. Maybe, if he have to choose his “happiest memory”, a memory he remember fondly, would be his early days in the Circle as an apprentice. He wouldn’t mind much he was only allowed to be outside the tower just for “exercising” (that is, before Anders attempted to escape), because he really didn’t miss that much, or his family. He made friends (humans in their majority, much to his own surprise because when he arrived he was scared of them and mistrusted them) that made his new life easier, and when he discovered the library, he practically claimed it as his own. He would discover the darkest side of the Circle later, but in those days when everything was new and he was learning new and interesting things he felt like the tower was like his second home. The concept he held of the tower would be a little different later, but he always consider what others call “prison” his home, in an extent.

So that would be his happiest memory, even if he wouldn’t admit it aloud unless he drank half a bottle (a little more, perhaps) of Aqua Magus.

30 day Role Playing Challenge- Day 5 (Elrion Surana)

5.) What’s your character’s ranking on the Kinsey Scale? (AKA, orientation)

Elrion considers himself a bisexual - so in the Kinsey scale he would make a perfect 3. He is equally attracted to both men and women; doesn’t really have a preference for neither of them, although he had way more male partners than female in his life. This is due, more than anything, because of how things worked in the Circle. Even if he knows perfectly there are ways to avoid an undesired pregnancy (some kind of concoction made alchemically for that purpose, or similar), it doesn’t always go as expected and there are some more problems than just the child is taken away from their parents into the Chantry’s custody, he has seen that more that once to acknowledge that. And Elrion is the kind of man that thinks the more innecesary troubles he can avoid, the better. That is why he didn’t usually bed women when in the Circle. Outside, however, the things can be different if he desires to. He is not as promiscuous as he is thought to be, although he always avoid compromises and he had numerous troubles in making others understand  that. But that’s another very different story.
